Since 2021, we have supported Patrick von Känel in his paragliding adventure races as a sponsor. In Patrick, we have found a young athlete who shares our values. He uses the energy of the sun to fly as far as possible. In doing so, he always travels sustainably.

Patrick about himself

I am an overachiever and always on the move sustainably. How? With the help of solar energy, which is available to us free of charge. So on a sunny day I can fly for up to 10 hours and cover distances of more than 400 kilometers in that time. On such days, homeowners also enjoy a 3S solar solution 🙂

FAQ about paragliding

How are thermals actually created?

Solar radiation on the earth's surface heats the air near the ground. Warm air rises in the atmosphere until it has the same temperature as the ambient air. Paraglider pilots try to recognize these invisible thermal zones based on the terrain structure and use them to their advantage.

Who would voluntarily jump off a mountain?

When paragliding, the paraglider is laid out on the ground and the pilot checks that there are no knots in the lines of the paraglider before takeoff. To take off with the paraglider, a meadow with sloping terrain is advantageous.

It is not jumped from a ledge as in the BASE jump.

What does Hike & Fly mean?

Paragliding has a long tradition in Switzerland, with the first flights taking place before 1974. For 20 years, with the first staging of the Red Bull X-Alps, "Hike & Fly" has been popular with many paraglider pilots and female pilots. "Hike & Fly" is the motto here. To get to the next mountain, they climb with their own muscle power and do not take the car or the mountain railroad.
